Nice relaxed family photo session
So the week after I photographed premature baby Dylan, another baby boy arrives, also named Dylan and this time 4 weeks premature! He was actually a little larger, but still tiny none the less! During this session I captured one of my favorite images I’ve taken.
I love the black and white, the simplicity and how hes all wrapped up! I think these need to be a staple in my photography sessions as i think they look great. The parents can hang that on their wall and its not just a memory but its also art. Thats what i really want to capture when i do my newborn sessions!
I had my first maternity session a few weeks ago, Kinga and Claudio were kind enough to be my guinea pigs for a couple of hours!
Unfortunately the weather wasnt perfect and we spent a lot of time hiding under trees where there was no decent light. However it did manage to clear up a bit, just long enough to get some shots. I had imagined the shoot in a luscious field, and although it was a bit too early in the year for the crops, i think we got some nice outcomes.
On Sunday night I traveled to Cupar, Fife to photograph 9 day old Kit. It turned out that the wee thing had missed out on some sleep and at first i thought it would be great as he would sleep like a log! But oh no! He was over tired and after a few hours of trying to get him to settle we gave up. Not wanting to miss the chance to get his photos done i came back the next morning for round two, and it was worth it! I got to use natural light which i love, my flat at the moment requires studio lighting as it doesn’t get enough from the window.
I also got too use my tartan heart i made, its an idea ive recently come up with and im hoping to do more as i think it worked quite well! (even if my sewing skills are a bit rough!)
So here are some more photos of the cutie that is Elijah. His mummies came in for a shoot a couple of weeks ago and at first we just couldnt get him to sleep! He didnt cry once but he was just so content lying on the bean bag! I played my white noise, a heart beat, we fed him, rocked him, changed him but he refused to close his eyes! It wasnt until we switched the tv on that he finally nodded off. Obviously “Carry on Spying” is the secret to getting babies to sleep! (thanks Babs!)
When his eyes closed he was out like a light and i think we got some pretty sweet photos! 🙂
